      Smile larger tires

the 185x60x14 tires on my 2010 will soon be done and i would like to install something a little bigger like maybe a 195x70x14 which is a little taller and might get better gas mileage. would this mess with the computer functions in any way? what is the largest tire that would fit without modifications? thanks

computer functions, no. speedo and feel of driving, yes.

ride height and turning radius play a part in larger tires, as well as adding width will going taller. honestly how loose the car feels with the stock suspension, i would not want more sidewall. maybe at east step up to a 15 or 16" light weight rim.

also if you are doing it primarily for gas mileage, you do not want a wider tread pattern, you want less.

I got new 16 x 7" wheels that weigh less than the steelies.

205/45/16 performance tires that are about 4% or so larger diameter than stock.

      Now the key---

      Don't slow down for corners.

I went to a 195/60/14 and found that the car handled the road better but I lost 2mph on the speedo. I've been running that size since 2006 on my 2004 sedan and now also have them on my wifes 2007 Aveo5

I run 175/65R14 snow tires in the winter. I will probably go with 185/65 for my next set of summer tires...slightly taller for a taller final drive ratio...and a better selection of tires. Most people want less sidewall for better handling; I prefer more sidewall for my local roads that are extremely rough in the winter and a little rough the rest of the year.

I think you'd probably see a slight decrease in MPG with a 195 even with the taller effective final drive ratio.
