I am dead serious, my current shocks are toast and its time to replace them, and seeing as how easily the aveo gets bogged down in snow I was thinking of adding a 2 inch lift with bigger tires, can I go with shocks that are 2 inches longer?
shocks wont lift your car. springs do..
unless you move the mounting points closer for the stock springs, or get longer springs with a higher rate, etc, it will not go up.
Which tires do you have on your Aveo?
Where in Canada are you located? I live in the snow belt and have had zero issues at stock ride height with snows.
2010 Pontiac G3: Rear Lip Spoiler | Aftermarket Power Door Locks | Vinyl Side Stripes | Accented Interior
They are stock size, I live in fort mcmurray alberta and drive through the rockies once per week, and have driven through many snow storms where I could not see 10 feet in front of me, those storms can come out of nowhere, no warning, and can drop 6-10 inches of snow in less than an hour
If you want to lift an Aveo... You're not the only one. I love my tiny car but hate how low it sits. I scrub the bottom everyday. I'm in Dead Horse Alaska right now "Ice Road Truckers road" Chains only go so far before you begin to wish you got in the truck instead. The cheepest way is to get those rubber donut style 1-2.5" Coil Spacers. It's not the best thing in the world for an Aveo. But it'll hold the car up a bit higher. Just keep in mind if you do that, it takes away your rebound. The shock will ride next to its maximin extension length and will have very little up travel left. They're ment to correct ride height after a heavy snow plow or winch bumper and such on coil sprung trucks. But, It'll make it sit an inch or 2 higher..... anymore lift and you get into steering, CV shaft and Camber/Caster/Toe issues. If you want more you'll have to drop the front subframe. But thats alot of work. Common in the 4 Wheel Drive off road Subaru world, but not Aveos......... Go buy some 2" Rubber coil spring Lock Washer shaped spacers from napa, cut them down to the diameter of Aveo Coils and put'm between the coil and coil pad. You may have to band it so it will retain in place. Thats pretty much all you can do other than gettin serious with a welder and scrap metal. Good luck and take suspension modifications serious.

I don't know if there are any AS radial that will work in snow for our Aveos, but mine did not. I've had over 40 years experience driving many vehicles in snow, and knew right away that my new Aveo was not up-to-par. Because of how it was performing in snow, I decided to buy another set of rims and mount snows on them for the front. This worked well on mine, and with the snows, the performance is now "ok".
You might be able to find an AS that works, but if you want to be sure, get aggressive snows for at least the front.
Is it possible that your studded radial doesn't have a great snow tread? No question that the studs give you good traction on ice, but they wouldn't do anything in snow. OTOH there's a limit to the snow depth an Aveo can be ok with, even with the best snow tires. You mentioned 6-10", and I don't think an Aveo can handle anything close to 10". So if that's what you need to drive through regularly, then maybe you can find a way to get the extra clearance that you asked about. Wonder if Sidewinder cares to add his take on this, given that he lives in your region.
