Have you been runnin chains? That small car wont get any bigger, but those front tires will have alot more pull and stop. If bumper deep snow is what you're runnin in than chains are pretty much the only thing you can do that'll make a differance. If truck insurance might be an issue... think about a late 80's 4- Lug (4wd hi-lo) Subaru. I've had and built'm up and ran'm hard for years and the potential of those cars is amazing. Especially after a quick cheep and easy 2" lift, welded rear diff, twin stick mod, removed sway bars and cheep half bald 28-30 inch Mud terrains. The basic stage 1 stuff..... Fuel/Insurance should be alot less than even a small truck.

i've plowed through 10" snow in my aveo a few times.. ripped the front bumper off, had to back up and "slam" through a few piles.. but it can be done, i found it just easier to not be the first one on the road (dont need to cut my own path)..

The issue of the lighter weigh cars is if the floor pan rests on the snow, and the tires are lifted off the traction. I have even done the in heavy cars and such, but its sort of easier in a light little car.

Has anyone done this yet? I would like to raise mine about an inch and a half. I use it mostly in the winter with four snows and would like the extra clearance. It's an 08 hatchback.

it wouldn't be anymore than a spring spacer, and or longer strut in the front. If i was going to do it, I would do a lift plate in the rear.

I could probably help you with this, but it will be some $$.
