My 2008 Aveo had a good run

Ran Amsoil on the first oil change and it made it 180,000 miles without any issues. It was a hatchback with a 5 speed manual.
Then it was rear ended at a traffic light by a teenager on her cell phone not paying attention. It was hit so hard, the car buckled in the middle and that was the end of the car! The insurance company gave me $3,000 for it since it was a total loss.

Jayman, sorry to hear of your 2008 loss! If you bought it back from the insurance company, there are some decent gen1 Aveos that could be rebuilt with luck, sweat equity and parts from from donors. Care to share any pics of the accident?

I never took any pictures, becuase the damage was just the back bumper at first. So went in to the auto body shop and they quoted me $1,200 for a new bumper. It was 3 weeks before they could do the repair and it was driven that whole time. Brought it in for the repair and they called me back after a day saying it was totaled since the frame was buckled in the middle of the car, which you could not visibly see, so then it was $7,000 to replace the frame, which was more the car was worth. Ended up replacing it with a 2014 Ford Fusion for $9,000.
Kinda sucks, because that Aveo could of went another 5 years.

Best wishes with your Fusion. Ford plans to discontinue all cars sold in the USA sometime in 2019-2020 except for the Mustang, F-series trucks and the Focus Hatch. The Fiesta, Focus, Taurus are all on the list.The resale on the discontinued models will drop rapidly.

Thanks! I bought my wife a brand new Prius V a couple years, and it seems like a pretty good car!
I still have a 2005 Aveo sitting out in back field that is not driveable, anti freezer squirts from the motor. I will post some pics of that later. I used it for parts for the other Aveo that was totaled.

Getting rid of the parts Aveo, then, or is there a chance of another one in your future?
