Owners of vehicles that require electronic keys should always have at least 2 TWO programmed keys, because if one is lost you won’t be in this situation. It s much cheaper to have a second key made, than to have a locksmith, or the dealer start from scratch.
Whenever I purchase a new to me vehicle that has these type of keys, I immediately make sure I have three keys total. One to use, one to misplace, and a third for an emergency.
That’s why a little bit after I got Scootaloo, I immediately went to my local Chevrolet dealer amd had them make me 2 genuine keys (she doesn’t have the immobilizer or power locks/keyless entry, so my keys were only $10 each)
