New Aftermarket Parts!
I think that we need more parts for the aveo... well, I KNOW we do. SOOOOoo, I got to thinking about it, and why don't we voice our opinions? There is a good bit of people on this board, and if we all were to tell certain companies that we need certain parts, perhaps they would begin producing them? I'm thinking motor upgrades, turbo kits, things of that sort, body kits and other cosmetics too... So if anyone is interested in certain parts, or upgrades, etc... then lets try to get something going, Idk if somebody has already tried this but it just popped up in my head and I figured why not post it... lol

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
Maybe it's a good idea, or maybe it's difficult and not gonna happen, but why laugh at Corey? When has sitting around with your thumb up your arse gotten anything done?
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
ive contacted many places and they laugh at me, as they only carry parts for honda, nissan or toyota
i wish we could get parts made, but again aveos arent hondas so it makes it rather difficult
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
We have to get our sh!t from Singapore.

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
You'd be surprised, aveo's are becoming as common as civics, beleive it or not... o.O

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
i have contacted a company about making coil overs, they have "expressed" some interested into seeing if it was viable and looking into development. But they are a small outfit making decent affordable coilover that some of my friends run. I am not sure about if they were just being nice because i personally know a dozen buyers of their current products, or if they are genuinely going to make consider them.
there is that place in canada now for bracing, the old body style has taillights and head lights on ebay, CF hoods, and such.
What else are you looking for?

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
I have been in contact with a few manufactures of aftermarket parts. Some never even reply, others say there's not a big of demand, but one or two are willing to make goodies for our cars.
It requires us to write emails to parts suppliers and let them know we are out there. I myself am targeting the North American parts manufactures. If you work had at it you can even get some free bees out of it.
I will be posting up suppliers as they come out with the parts for our cars, even the 2009's!!!!!!
Ultra Racing Canada (http://ultraracingcanada.com) has a full line of Suspension and Racing kits for Aveos. Just let them know Red Max sent you!!

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
The problem is not enough return on their investment. A lot of interest is expressed, but when it comes time to put up, no one wants to do it. To be honest, the reason most people opt for the Aveo over say a honda is because of PRICE. Well if the people buying Aveos are worried about price, they are not inclined to purchase expensive aftermarket parts. That along with the fact that there are so few Aveos, the market just isn't there.
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
and besides that, i dont wanna give someone 500 bucks and wait months for a part :0
it bothers me greatly though when people pay more for a used 2000 civic with 120k miles than they do for a new aveo, quite a shame people are so steyotypical like me :0

but some people have a set budget for the whole car, so the less they pay to purchase the car the more aftermarket parts they can get

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
I can buy a 95 Honda for $500 and stick $25,000 in mods like some of my friends, but I'm not into Hondas. I like driving something different and the price was not the only thing that made me buy my Aveo5.
I really like this car and the way it looks, god I haven't seen one like mine in the is hole city. Not like the 10 thousand plus Hondas.
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
yeah same here's there's only 2 modified aveo in the area, and i'm one of them

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
I mean, I'm not gonna lie, I like performance... But idk if I'm going to be able to get that out of this car, so I'm going to make it nice and if I still want more performance out of a four banger I'm gonna try to get a cobalt ss... Lol, keep the aveo of course, because I love it. I just have a need for speed... I need some reassurance tho... can this car be fast? lol

didn't you buy an automatic ? need for speed? what?
for the 10k you didnt spend going up to a cobalt ss, unless you go used supercharged (which isn't bad either), you can either swap in the ss drivetrain figure @ 4k for the drivetrain out of a wrecked car, and 6k (overpriced guess) for the install. you could spend 5k on custom turbo kit and programmable standalone, a lot less if you can do any of it yourself. For 3-4k You could build a high compression cammed NA engine with custom manifolds, etc.. (again a lot less if you can do it yourself.)
even doing things like light weight wheels and sticky tires will increase performance by reducing static weight. I forget the conversion, but its like 2 lbs off of each wheel, (8lbs from the set) feels like 1 hp on take off?

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
Fast is nice, but you can't really use it. Quick off the line and can I through it around winding streets is more important to me. That’s why I’m adding front & rear strut bars, the front lower bar, the 16mm rear anti-roll bar, and the Apex 30mm lowering springs.
Off the line I’m pretty quick, my shifting is quite smooth, but once I add the air intake and tweak the engine. I’ll be where I want.

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
Well when I got this car I had no interest in performance, I just started taking classes for auto mechanics at college, and am really really interested in engine performance, so of course I want to make my engine faster, just don't know how...

This is exactly the point I was trying to make. If I am in business, who do I want to market too?

lol the aveo can go really fast, like any car, but it will require money

Maybe they are becoming more common, but the owners are not buying aftermarket parts.
Seems that there are only a dozen members on here that regularly post.

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
Well... oh well.. haha on the bright side, we're different! And on an even brighter side, I dropped my car 4 inches today! lol and put low profile tires on! It looks fabulous
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
it went down 4 inches  :?:
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
sounds like he cut 2 coils of the stock springs.. mine is about 3" lower. but i cut one coil off my brand new lowering springs
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
Actually I had like 400-55 tires also and I dropped down to like 300-something-40 so that dropped it about an inch too, and then we cut a coil out of the strut springs on the front, and compressed them back into place, they ride perfect! I don't see what the fuss is about people saying not to cut them

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
Here’s a question about you lowering your rides. Did you get a wheel alignment afterwards?

i think you would have to, or go and align it yourself

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
yes, you will want to do either of those.

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
A little more info here...
1. I am watching the "petrified.rabbit" posts. VW guys come up some intereting things, especially in the do-it-yourself stuff.
2. I have had a few cars with NO or Funky aftermarkets. Some became very expensive to do any work. Others were cheap do-it-yourself and creative type of mods.
I classify the Aveo in between the two. I am gonna be ordering parts from overseas. But am parting some odds and ends together.
I have an addiction to turbo cars, but don't know that I will partake in the idea of Turbo as I was working on in the Spec V. That remains to be seen.

Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
lol i remember the vw rabbit my mom and stepdad restored, that thing was awesome
i might buy a cabrio when i turbo my aveo, i love those things
-
Re: New Aftermarket Parts!
i hate pharoh performance. remember that "turbo your 1.8" thread i started? well i went over there, after getting to know some of the guys that work there. hell, some of those guys are in the car club. but after being reassured Pharoh would be interested in helping us out, i was basicly laughed out of the place. i got the "sorry, i tried" shoulder shrug from the E.A.S.T. guys, and have boycotted Pharoh ever since. Custom Car Shop my ass...
