      New Head Install, need help

      Hello All,

Need some help with my sons 2005 Aveo. He blew a timing belt and as a result is going to have to get a new head. My question is how do you set the cams (static timing) before putting the head on the block to avoid bending valves as you torque the head down?. I assume you start by putting the crank at TDC on #1 cylinder, then point your cams so the timing marks point towards each other, then lock them in place, and install the head, correct?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

procedure is the same as timing belt. TDC on cylinder one, bottom crank pointed down and both cams pointed at each other. Alas I am sure your done by now.
