New Member New Aveo New story lol

Well this is My first post here, I'm picking up My 2009 Aveo on Friday.
My search started out because I have an old truck which is a clunker. I have been admiring the Camaros for a few years and decided I wanted to check one out and test drive one and possibly bring one home. Well I finally located one about an hour away from Me and took a day off work. The wife and I drove out to test drive a red camaro rs v6. We had an appointment for 10 am only to find out when we got there the dealer wrecked the car the night before. Thy had one other a fully loaded SS but at least I could drive one and see if I liked it. When I got in I found out I don't fit. I'm 6'5 and all upper body and My head hit the ceiling so bad that on a 10 min drive My neck hurt till the next day. How disappointing. We looked around and the looks and gas mileage of the aveo caught My eye. I left and started reading up on these cars till My eyes hurt. There so much bad and good I was back to square 1. I fit in this car great with lots of extra room and with 4500 off made it very affordable. So My wife and I decided to get it.

I just shake My head when I think I set out to buy a new Camaro and I end up with an Aveo? I'm still not sure what happened but hopefully We made the right choice.
Sorry to ramble but I thought some might enjoy the story. I still can't believe it *lol*

I'm into modding My cars and trucks so I'm looking forward to becoming a regular daily member here.

Welcome to the forums rainbow and congratulations on your new aveo. Did you get a hatchback or a sedan? I have an 09 Aveo5.

We got the sedan, My wife liked that better. I liked them both so I left it up to her, better off that way *lol*

what options and such did you get? (if you don't mind us asking, what deal did you work out?

and most importantly, did you get fog lights with it? (want some?)

If you do preventive maintenace on it like your supposed to you'll have no problems. The important thing is the timing belt. Remember these words: TIMING BELT. Very important.

Ha..who would figure setting out for a camero and getting an aveo. I have an 06 5d light blue aveo. You'll love your car..they grow on you.

I bet the sales manager was like "Hey WTF happened there? They came looking for a Camaro and left with an Aveo?"

and No don't mind you asking at all what options I got.
I have ac, power windows, the nicer radio, I think the only option I didn't get and I wanted was the 15 inch aluminum wheels. I tried to get them to put them on but they said they couldn't.
I traded My 95 chevy pickup in and got the 4500 then I also got the GMS price because My brother in law works for GM in Ohio. Out the door with tax and license was right around 8900 plus 0% financing.

I don't actually have it yet I pick it up Friday morning at 10 am. All the paperwork is already done. My truck has a utility body and I needed time to clean out 14 years of stuff *lol*

Yea I still don't know what happened, I had My wife talked into the Camaro and everything?! :lol:

Well I started out at Kenny Ross in Irwin they had a Camaro, but once I figured out I didn't fit I went to Colussy in Bridgeville where I bought My last 2 vehicles. (Colussy does not have any Camaros)

Kinda pissed Me off that I had an appointment with Kenny Ross and they never bothered calling Me to tell Me they wrecked the Camaro I wouldn't be able to drive it. They had 2 there a V6 red which is what I wanted and an Orange SS which they reluctantly let Me drive after I told them I traveled almost an hour to get here.

So Um yea I settled for a sport red Aveo :lol:

Welcome, I'm new here too, I picked up an aveo to replace a clunker too. I thought mine was the youngest aveo here but I guess not.
It's funny how you went for a camero And ended up with an aveo, about 1/4 of the power and price of a camero, I hope you enjoy your car:), I'm sure liking mine.

i bought my aveo at colussy too, i was also just there last week trying to get something fixed. i probably man handled your aveo looking for things to modify.

Only issue I have with this car is the lack of availble aftermarket parts.
Got to get creative at times.

Yes that is so true, it's a hands on custom make and fit. Hopefully more parts will come out for the 2009's and up.

i bought mine last october, like a week after i joined this site. i don't remember the guys name, but i get a bunch of invites to come test drive cars from a pushy saleswoman instead of him now, so i think he is gone.

speaking of camaros, i just checked one out at the dealer, the head room sucks, im 6,1 so the front is fine, but the back seats need 2" more for my head to fit.

the plan now is to replace my 04 aveo :oops: with a black 2010 camaro LS :evil: next summer

I know how you feel I have done so much to my aveo I could never get rid of it. It really is a great car... I would've never thought that before I owned one.

im not giving up my aveo, its gona be my mom's ride, i just think i need a better ride to show for all the hard work i've put in in the last 4 years, and a murdered out 2010 camaro is what im looking at.

lol yeah but its so much more expesive, thats why im keeping the aveo

my insurance would be triple, i would get more tickets, and it would be around 30k for me, or $600+ month if im lucky. The parts will be more expensive too, even compared to custom parts for aveo

i would rather dump 10k in my aveo and still pay 125 a month for insuance :0

if someone was murdered in it i think you could get it for cheaper than 30k..

30k is about 525-540 a month.. (from my audi)

and i still can't believe you guys pay that much in insurance..

i was talking about a new one lol

i got bad credit so if i could even touch one, the interest would push it well over 600

i lived in Harrisburg and my insurance was cheap :( but florida is a no fault state so thats why its so expensive

you dont mind a car which someone got killed in?

i have fixed ferraris and such that people were killed in, insurance wouldn't total them but i would never knowing own one. I was just making fun of the "murdered out camaro" comment a few posts up.

Well its been over a month now and I just turned over 1000 miles. I bought this car as a third vehicle which I didn't really need I just wanted to take advantage of cash for clunkers.

I have to say this car has shocked Me. I absolutely love this car, such a fun car to drive. I bought it as kinda a spare car but it seems it don't sit still very long. The kids and the wife take it if I don't get to it first *lol*

I'm in the same boat as you. My Aveo is my commuter but I have other good cars. The Aveo keeps the miles off them. Its funny though its a really fun little car.

you guys are awesome :P
