Hey gang!

Just stopping by to say hi...

I work at a Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership here in Minneapolis. Anyway, I decided that my winter beater was a little too beat, so I pulled the trigger on one of these Aveo 5 SVM's that we had on the lot. It was a steal, 'cause it was sitting out there 60 days and the boss had it priced for less than what we owned it for.

It's a silver 2007 with about 12,400 on the odometer. Seemed like a smart buy since it has plenty of factory warranty left, my techs said they hardly ever have problems, they hold their resale well, and I should be able to achieve some pretty respectable MPG's with the little 1.6L. Although, I did splurge and got some 16" wheels for it (since I naturally get a discount, and the stock 14's were just too cheap-looking), so it might effect my efficiency a tad. We'll see. Oh, and I picked up a set of the all-weather floormats. Kind of a must-have in this part of the world, ya know.

I'll try to get some pics up, and check in from time to time for ideas and whatnot. One thing I forgot to pick up was splash guards, so I think I'll have my parts guys order that up tomorrow.

Welcome. What's the weather like out there? Seattle is having the coldest winter in 20 years. My poor Aveo5 is so covered in crap.

Cold, and snow. But that's pretty much standard here in Minnesota. Its the reason why I should have my head examined for not thinking of the splash guards, 'cause I get crap sprayed up the side of the thing the minute I leave the driveway. LOL Looking at my parts list, I guess the decision is whether to get the guards that have the Chevy bowtie, the GM logo, or just plain. Luckily, we have a carwash at the dealership, so I suppose it doesn't have to stay looking like a salt block on wheels for too long.

I am entertaining the idea of replacing the stereo with something that has an input jack for an MP3 player too.

I've had it only a few days, but I gotta say, the heater in this car works pretty darn good. That's definately a nice thing up here. :) And it's a fun car to drive with the 5 speed, even if it isn't a speed demon. (my summer car is an auto)

Welcome to our little club. Hope you find it educational, entertaining, and possible have some good info to offer someday.

I'm in Rochester, NY (we get a fair amount of snow as well) so you can share what style, where, and how much you paid for your weather floor mats..LOL

I gotta get some of those all weather floor mats, or my floor boards will be rusted thru in a few more winters.

We get a similar winter here in Rochester, Ny. 8-12" fell last night. Hopefully someone got them for me for Christmas.

I went with GM part # 89021841 $69 retail. I get 10% over cost.

Next is the molded spash guards.

hey ChenZhen! welcome to the forums! southern ny here. 50 miles north of NYC! we just got hammered friday with snow, then again today as well. ok, i'm cold, and tired of snow. is it spring yet? one thing i gotta say about my aveo is that she pulls thru the snow just fine.

Yea, I know what you're saying, but I don't think I'll do that this time. I already have one car that rides 4" off the ground, and I can't drive that one here in the winter. So, it is what it is.

I'll probably be upgrading the base stereo here in a few days, so at least I can play CD's and plug in a MP3 player. I might mod the front grille and add the aforementioned splash guards, but that'll probably do it.
