Welcome to AveoClub.net! It is our hope that you have a good experience while digging through the many informative threads on this site. Please feel free to ask questions about your car but one thing we ask before you do that is double check the forum for your answer. Chances are that someone may have already asked or addressed the issue. So before you ask, use the search button located near the top-right center of your screen. Hopefully with this thread though we may be able to answer a few questions you may already have.

First off, we seem to get reoccurring questions about spark plugs and wires. If you are looking to upgrade your spark plugs you have a couple of good choices. NGK and E3 spark plugs seem to be the favorite amongst our forum members. As far as wires u can order some from NGK or Magnecor. And do know that yes they help add some power, but nothing you will really notice. You may notice a slight increase in your gas mileage as well.

The next question I would like to address for you is lowering springs questions. The following is a list of how much each set of springs differ in drop height:
h&r is 1.5/1.4 f/r

apex is 30mm = 1.2" f/r

intrax is 1.5 f/r

eibach prokits are 1.3/1.0 f/r

Another common question I will talk about is the Ebay “performance chips” that claim anywhere from 10-45 extra hp and better gas mileage for a low price, usually around 20-40$. Look, if the saying “if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is,” were to apply to only one situation, this would be it. Don’t buy them as they will only waste your money and do not work. First of all your OBD-II will gather information from other sensors and correct itself. Secondly it can foul your oxygen sensor, clog the catalytic converter, and damage your cars ECU. It’s not worth all that hassle you will never gain 10-45 extra hp like that.

Now some folks who have a 2004 Aveo may run into problems with getting locked out of your car stereo. It will ask for a security code before it can be activated. Here is a list of codes that you can try before hauling off to the dealer in a huff:

The next issue is not so much a common question but I am adding it for reference.

This filter will fit the following 1.6L, 2.0L and 2.2L engines:
-Lanos
-Nubira
-Leganza
-Optra
-Lacetti
-Forenza
-Aveo
The Fram Double Guard with DuPont Teflon, DG3387A, is highly recommended.

Oil filter for 2009-:
Napa gold P/N (FIL 7674)

hhmm checked out the site, they are very similar in cataloging of parts and such but the one thing i really like about gmpartsdirect is that they accept paypal which makes checkin out really fast, its all preferencial.

Although the PF52 might fit the Aveo, we use the PF47. Same flow and micron rating... No advantage using the taller filter.

that info was taken from d-tech so its more of a universal thing, suppsed to fit a few different daewoos. but i did verify it on the ac delco website so i will change it, thank you!

I am One of the people that had the Radio Problem Yes it's Very true and it's ONLY on the 2004 Aveo's some one from Chevy thought that it would be a great idea and help stop radio theft. BUT all it did was make Aveo owners Mad Very Mad!

pretty cool info, but I would suggest posting other P/Ns for the Aveo Filters... I for one detest Fram, had 2 cars blow their engines using Fram Filters that collapsed under pressure...

Guess who makes GM filters....FRAM. My sister used to work there. But they said GM had the toughest standards than the rest. All the other companies accepted little defects except for GM which is good to know.

Mobil M1-101 Filter ftw! Although expensive, you can't go wrong by many Mobil 1 products.

OMG they put that same Lock on the GTO?????? what the HELL is Chevy thinking. That code for the radio was put in there to stop the radio's from getting Ganked. BUT HERE is the Problem with this idea............ First off a CRACKHEAD is the one that Ripps Off the Radio. he doesn't care that you need a code. all he wants is the 2 hits of CRACK he gets for the radio. Then the guy that gets the radio from the Crackhead will do 1 of 2 things. he will sell it to a Stereo shop, who will sell it to the guy that got the radio ganked in the first place. so he can have his Stock look back to normal.
or the guy will sell it on ebay to some poor Aveo Owner that some CRACKHEAD Ganked his radio from

Ever read the tests/reviews of oil filters?
Fram is usually the worst, and even Dupont says Teflon has no business in an engine.

Just wanted to throw that out there...not a slam or anything.

Someone should update this for the new aveos.

Unless I missed it, the PF-47 also crosses over to the Baldwin B-43S oil filter. I use Balwin filters in both Cummins engines we run and they are as good as the OEM Fleetgard.

If you buy the these filters by the case of 12, they cost $3.91 each at BF Web Express.

If someone could post a list of all the filters the Aveo uses, I'll see if I can post the Baldwin filter cross over filter. Thanks. I need to get a listing of all the filters my daughters 2007 Aveo 5 LS automatic transmission uses anyhow.

5W-30 AMSOil with WIX filter... Did that in both my Aveo and HHR.... The oil only darkens a little in the first 5k, so I just change the filter at that point. It's rated to go all the way to 25k, but I don't think I'd do more than 15k... most likely 10.
