      New radiator

      I have to replace the radiator in my 09 aveo5. has anyone had to replace theirs or have removed it?

      2009 Aveo5 Radiator Removal & Installation


      Removal & Installation


      1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
      2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
      3. Drain the engine cooling system.
      4. Remove the electric cooling fans.
      5. Remove the upper radiator hose clamp.
      6. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
      7. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.

      8. Remove the lower radiator hose clamp.
      9. Remove the hose clamp from the surge tank hose at the radiator.
      10. Disconnect the surge tank hose from the radiator.
      11. Remove the left upper radiator retaining bolt.
      12. Remove the left upper radiator retaining bracket.
      13. Remove the right upper radiator retaining bolt.
      14. Remove the right upper radiator retaining bracket.

      15. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.

      To install:
      Set the radiator into place in the vehicle with the radiator bottom posts in the rubber shock bumpers

      1. Position the radiator retainers in place.
      2. Install the upper right radiator retaining bracket.
      3. Install the upper right radiator retaining bolt.
      4. Tighten the upper right radiator retaining bolt to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
      5. Install the upper left radiator retaining bracket.
      6. Install the upper left radiator retaining bolt.
      7. Tighten the upper left radiator retaining bolt to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
      8. Connect the surge tank hose to the radiator.
      9. Secure the surge tank hose with a hose clamp.
      10. Connect the upper radiator hose and the lower radiator hose to the radiator.
      11. Secure each hose with a hose clamp.
      12. Install the electric cooling fans.
      13. Refill the engine cooling system.
      14. Connect the negative battery cable.

      lucky me, replacing thermostat. Wheres' drain plug on this beast?

      for me, the whole process was not too bad. Until, it was time to reassemble. Stuck, with having to struggle with the cooling lines. I removed the front bumper. This gave me the confidence to get ur done!
