      Rusted wheel well

Has anyone experienced where there is rust around the top of the strut mounts? I heard a sound and
thought the strut needed replaced but the steel around the top of the strut is cracked
around. I see this when I open the hood. It's making a sound. I guess I should worry. ?

Unfortunately that’s not abnormal for the RustBelt region you live in. (I’ve lived in the belt).
The cost of repairs will most likely outweigh the worth of the Aveo. The rust crack is a safety concern.

Just so I am using the proper terminology, it's the strut tower. It seems to happen on the passenger side because of salt lying on the road in the winter.

I'm not sure what to do because the car runs like a champ. It's at 83,000 miles. I might try a sway bar mount on top
just outside where both struts come into the towers.

I'll let you know what I end up doing. Thanks for the reply!
