      Safelite Windshield Replacement...

Ok so long story short, I got more than just fenders when I installed them. It was an accident, but I told my dad I would handle it and Safelite came out today and replaced my windshield (YAY! I'm legal again!)

But I wanted to put the price out there, I paid 265 bucks and some change. That was only becuase the guy installing the windshield did not replace the gasket/seal thingy, bcuase mine was still good. If he had used it I would be crying after paying 293 bucks. (Not that I am happy to fork over, over 260 bucks for a windshield, but at that price, I am glad my seal/gasket thingy was still good.)

Just wanted to post this to give anybody some ideas as to how much a windshield would cost to replace.

OUCHIES! The saddest part was that I lost my tint strip. 20 bucks down the drain! AWWW MAN!

How do they determine how much the glass and everything is? Is it the curveture of the glass or the availability or what?

curvature is probably only a factor if you own a saab (can't remember the exact price of a replacement for my old 900, but it was a small fortune)...

Obviously availability would go into it (supply/demand)... biggest factor is probably thickness and install complexity (back to saab... thank god we found one at a junkyard and did it ourselves).

I had safelite do mine.... 2ce. $240 the first time $220 the 2nd. They came to my house the first time and my work the 2nd. I work near a gravel pit so the 16 mile of freeway tends to be a little rocky.
