      Re: snow woes

I was in San Francisco for the earthquake in 89'. It was not as bad as the news made it out to be. At least that is what I was told, I was only 3

There are more deaths per year directly caused by snow than earthquakes.

Today I drove my Aveo for the first time in 6 weeks because of the snow here in Central, NY. We've had 124.2 inches thus far, so when I go outside and look at the Aveo and the Trailblazer it is an easy choice.
2008 Chevrolet Aveo LS sedan - 13,230 miles
      2008 Mercury Mountaineer AWD 4.0L V6 - 34,920 miles
      2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS 4x4 4.2L I6- 95,870 miles

Wow, thats alot. You guys have been hammered over there, usually its us here in Western Ny.

I look forward to driving My Aveo in the snow, because I love the sense of accomplishemnt when I arrive back home without a bump or a scratch.

I used to drive a car from the 70's that you would never ever want to drive in the snow.

Heavy v8 front engine, rear drive, but lightweight with a small wheelbase and 13" tires.

My screenname should give it away.

So the Aveo handles very very well , relatively speaking. You have to be a good snow driver around here because you spend more than half the year driving through it...We drive straight on thru snow that would have alot of other cities shut down.

So Driven for the conditions, the Aveo is very stable.

But I've tested it in parkinglots, it is spin happy if provoked. I'm good with the hand brake and mines a stick, so I can swish it around pretty good. but I dont chance it out on the roads.
Thats why it seems safe I'm sure.

      Re: snow woes

i was in Northridge for the 1994 quake ya there wasn't power for a day and a half and we had to drink bottle water for a week but it was over way faster then having to deal with snow. the best part is 1994 was the last big quake that stopped everything in my area when was the last time it snowed and stopped everything in your area.
You did WHAT? to your Aveo? HAHAHAHAHA

Pretty much everything stopped, alot of people slept at work that night.

I can't imagine living in an area that has major earthquakes, both can very bad things.

We get more than 20cm of snow regularly in Moncton. It shuts all the schools down but not work or the transit. The difference is that we are prepared for it. We have the machinerie to deal with it.

      Re: snow woes

I do not know, the all season where not to bad but there where new. I drove most of the winter with about that or most times a foot or more at times.
Then I got some winters got even better. And I push the car pretty close to the breaking point of the traction. I drive pretty fast even in the snow get to know the car and the tires you drive on and drive on good tread.
