anyone watch the latest on gm? filed bankruptcy, being pulled off of the dow jones (no longer a stock)
now the US government has a 60% stake in the company, canada's federal government has a 17.5ish % stake, and the AUW whoever has a 12.5% stake. thats 90% of the company right there..
still losing 1100 dealerships, 21000 direct gm job losses (not including dealerships or outsourced parts facilities) and we are NOT going to get the 40 billion estimated government bailouts they received..
maybe i should petition obama to give me a million dollars so i can declare bankruptcy too? wtf.
GM will be fine, just needs time
I dont mean to hijack this thread but I just got a letter in the mail from GM meant to bolster customer confidence eventhough GM is in turbulent times. They spoke of 100 yrs of history and how GM owners were part of that heritage and blah, blah, blah! They wanted to assure me that they were here to stay, and that they had some new exiting cars on the way and so on and that customer support would not falter. Personally I didnt need to recieve that letter, and have no plans of jumping ship. I love my Suburban, and my Aveo.
+1 Chevy owners have nothing to worry about. I think we'll lose Hummer, Saab, Pontiac, and Buick to other companies but who cares. I did hear that possibly Chevrolet will continue to make all the cars on their line, but most to all of the truck market will now be GMC. Just a rumor for now.Quote:

My gm product was built in korea just like yours, how are we helping the economy?
toyota and saturn build more cars on united states soil than GM.. just saying, and in north america, you also have Volkswagen (who is building and opening a plant in the US).
Hummer was sold to a Chinese heavy equipment manufacturer.
Nobody will miss Hummer except rich bitches in Hollywood lol.
I got the same letter and all I could think about was how many hundreds of thousands of dollars it took to print and mail those letters to everyone.Quote:

It irritates me everytime I see it in the mail.
advertising lol, no different then them having tv commericals, sponsering test track at disney, or paying to have thier cars used in transformers movies(i read this somewhere). They even had superbowl commericals two or three years ago. Since the government owns it, they get free shipping :P :P :P :P :P :P
So much BS in the news I stopped watching.
Is it our money they are wasting on that stuff?
So, I got a letter in the mail from GM yesterday saying it was a "Customer Apreciation Certifercate" and apparently because I bought an 09 Aveo they're giving me 1000 bucks towards my loan. Anyone else get this?
towards your loan or towards the loan of a new purchase?
if it is for your loan, scan or take a picture of it? i would like to see it?
Haha, yeah turns out I already got 1000 bucks off when I bought mine 3 months ago. I just got back from Lithia to check. My mistake.
I got that same letter that stated $1000 to $2500 off a new car purchase before Dec 09. The amount depended on the model purchased.
Yeah, that's the same one, I misunderstood.
My take on this is... you bought your Korean-built Aveo from an American, working at an American dealership, and you'll probably have it serviced by an American. Those other cars built here are being built by Americans, so all that's a good thing.Quote:
