Well whatever you do be carefull. You say its not ego but then kinda prove it is. I highly doubt you father and grandfather will care how fast your car was if you get killed or go to jail because you got someone killed. Just remember that before launching your car or getting talked into a race. If don't believe me ask you father. Ask him how many people he knew that where stupid and died racing. ...I'm not saying not to race I'm saying don't do it as a big macho thing or something. There will always be someone out there with more money in there car than you etc.
As for the Aveo...it may not be a car that has a ton of performance aftermarket parts availible for it yet. But that may change with the 2009 styling change (hopefully) plus the more people trying to build them the better off you'll be to have the parts later. You said earlier or in you picture post you liked the Aveo because it was different. But you didn't like it because of the race...One option suggested already is an engine swap. I'm sure people on here could help you through that and sounds like you have the access to the shop. So why not go that route. I'm thinking along the same lines later (after my warrenty is out) Or you can follow the turbo builds and see what you can do about turboing your Aveo (something I may do sooner than later) Its all up to you.
If your dead set on switching cars then by all means go for it. But remember why you liked the Aveo was because it was different. If you get something just like everyone else you may dissapointed too. Sure you may be able to get more parts right away but who knows.
Just think it over before you do anything. If you can do alot of the work yourself in school then that is cool. You have the Aveo now. Anything you buy you'll have to start from scratch and have the cost of building it up too.
