Anyone here have a GPS device that tells the speed being traveled?
According to mine GPS, my '06 Aveo speedo reads 3 to 4 mph fast at any given speed.
Anyone else find the same thing?

are you still on stock tires? if so, most cars 95% i would say, read a little fast on the speedo when compared to actual speed.
if you are not running factory sizes then most likely the noticeable difference is from the sizes you put on..
Hey dude.
Yeah, tire size difference could cause discrepancy.
I'm on my second set, but specs are the same but these do seem to be a tick wider and shorter than the factory Hankooks.
there stock equivalent 185 65 14s I believe, from Riken.
But not to hijack the topic. anyone else run a gps reading against there speedo?
I did and mine is about 7% off. I'd get it changed at the dealership, but I'm too lazy. There is a TSB out for speedos that are way off.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
Mine reads slow, but only about 2.5mph at an indicated 60 mph. Mine is because I am running tires that are 2/10 of an inch larger than stock. As the tire wears the speedo will go back to dead on and probably be fast at the end of the tires life.
yes when i upped my rims to miata rims and tires it read off about 3-5 mph, my SVX is off about 7-9mph after changing out the gear set, at least im less likely to get caught speeding...
its an aveo bro you cant speed!!
and also guys some GPS modules are based on a 1-5 Meter perimeter of where the GPS is so that can acomidate for your diffence in speed, the only true ways to tell is a radar gun (or those police radar traps) or a digital speedo...never trust an external device to tell you exactly how fast your going
I've changed tires but put on specs' size tire which I beleive is 185-60-r14 but my speedo indicates faster... about 5-6% off.
Is it worth the repaired if car is still under warranty?
I was speeding, so were you. Will you give yourself a ticket too?
2006 Aveo Hatchback 5Dr. Sunset Orange?! 45,000 Km
R.I.P 2000 Cavalier Z24 ... Good combat against the flames though
You might be able to get the dealer to recalibrate the meter/sensor under warranty if the tires are the same size as OEM and you're using the OEM rims. It's worth a shot, but really they could say no just based on the fact that you're not using OEM tires
i dont think they would touch it if anything is not stock, or say nothing is wrong with the car as there really isnt anything wrong with it, but worth a try i suppose
