      Stubborn p0455 code

I have a 2004 Chevy Aveo5 with 118k. The P0455 code cropped up a few weeks ago. I’ve replaced gas cap, purge valve and purge solenoid. I’m kind of at a loss as to what’s next.

Is it possible that the tube is bad (from the canister to the solenoid up front)?

If if anyone is had this issue, please advise.

I resolved the same issue on my '05 by replacing the vent valve/solenoid with a boneyard part. They can also be tested before replacing.

I've also had that same problem before. After replacing gas cap, purge valve, vent valve, the code came back. Only after I replaced the canister itself did the problem go away completely. Be warned, they can be expensive.

yeah. I just took the wheel off for a quick look and everything seems to be kosher under there. Tube into vent valve from canister, tube out of canister to atmosphere.

Guess I’ll clear the code for now and start looking for a new vapor canister as I’m told they go bad due to the (poor) location.

I chased my P0455 code for months....
Mine finally was cured by replacing the fuel tank pressure sensor.

Did yours make noticeable “knock” or “thump” from the tank area shortly after startup? Mine does that occasionally.

That’s most likely the canister valve doing what it’s supposed to do.

Cool. Was wondering as it doesn’t do it all the time, but occasionally does and I’ve never noticed it before.

Ah. Replaced the fuel tank pressure sensor.

      *ding ding ding!*

So far, after 3 days of driving, there’s no popping/knocking noises from the hatch area and no check engine code light.

Must say, it was the quickest fix I’ve done in it so far. Why can’t they make EVERY fue tank this accessible? 😂

My 2004 Aveo is doing the same thing...thumb/bump noise from tank area right after startup. After taking it to a shop and exhaustively running smoke test and diagnostics, they cannot determine cause of the P0455. I have already replaced with OEM GM parts the purge valve canister, the charcoal canister and new gas cap...still getting the P0455. I now think the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor is the culprit...is it easy to replace? I have the tools and a friend is a mechanic who will assist me.
