Ive been using synthetic since my car had 15k. I now have 106K miles and one thing I noticed when I changed the valve cover gasket is that there was no sludge at all in the motor. The inside looked brand new. I believe that this is because of synthetic oil. I guess you can say it was worth it. In my case anyways.
I don't know if this is true but I had a friend mention this to me. Synthetic oil is not crude oil in any way so it should last longer too because it wont burn up as much do to heat. Higher burning point, something along those lines. My friend wasn't using facts or anything just assuming so. Makes sense, just do not know if it is true.
oil is like condoms do you use the extra thick trojans or the ones that are flavoured at the novelty store.both will work if they are clean and new but which 1 would make you sleep better at night.change oil at proper intervals nomatter what oil you use.myself i use whatever syntheic is on sale usually quaker state or pennzoil at the local walmart 25.00 for 5 litrers.
i have run fully synthetic with the synthetic filter since the car was new in 05 and now just crossed over the 200,000 km mark. i changed the oil every 18,000km and have had 0 problems.
I change my oil every 5K miles. I use the GM Dexos synthetic blend (Cuz it's free at work). Really synthetic or not doesn't matter as long as you keep up with your oil changes
