I would have been happy for a decent car of equal value. There was a huge rebate for Impalas. The dealer said this was partly the reason. My monthly payment raised $116 a month, which I was happy to agree to. They also said that I have been a very good customer in past years. I have aided this dealer in the sale of 6 new Chevy's in the past year. I have purchased 8 new Chevy's in the last 9 years from this dealer. Overall, GM and the dealer were courteous and friendly.

      ..

I've had a few chevy's in the past with a similar noise...

There was this cool dealership in the stix that gave me the solution to all the rattles.. GM allows you to actually control where and when you hear these rattles standard in almost every make and model ..

The 2 selector knobs are usually in the center of the dashboard (most vehicles)..1st press the left knob to activate the system...
use the knob on the right to select the appropriate rattle cancellation frequency. Then go back to the left knob and adjust the actual amount of cancellation you prefer.. Presto! No bad noise...only good sounds..

Use a high-end noise canceler for best results...
Find Aveo How-to's at my blog. http://aveodiy.blogspot.com/

I like the way you think. I splurged and added navigation to my noise cancelling device.
Sorry GM, the Turbo Sonic was priced too close to the Focus ST. I gots me a Ford.
