      weight of the aveo

Most places seem to say the Aveo is around 2500lbs or so, is that right?
On my vehicle registration it says net weight 1060 kg which is 2336 lbs ?

Is this just the difference of having a person in the vehicle or something else.. ?

edit: edmunds lists the 04 hatch at curb weight of 2354 lbs

different weight for different years of aveo?

edit 2: ahh, according to edmunds the weight stayed relatively the same until the face lift at '09, when the weight went to 2546 lbs.

What's interesting is it seems to have a couple more HP, and seems to get equal or maybe even better gas mileage than the older ones. Edmunds rates the old one at 32 highway and the new one at 34 highway, but I'm pretty confident both can do better in the real world. I averaged 36mpg on (3/4 of it highway) yesterday on a ~20 min trip both ways in my 04.

The weight of the Aveo has increased pretty drastically over the years. The official weights we have listed in the specifications here:

Stock 09' Aveo5 is 2546 lbs. Mine's probably a little lighter than that...no back seat, fewer mufflers and lighter exhaust, no air box or intake resonator, no spare tire...there's a lot of weight to be shaved off the Aveo very easily.

Like it was mentioned before in a few threads, your MPG depends greatly on your driving style... I've gotten anywhere between 19.5 and 33.7 in an Aveo... just different driving habbits depending on your mood, music playing, and whether kids and wife have their own car or ride with you... Also the quicker you make it, the more chances you'll have trouble restraining yourself from taking off quickly from the light. And that tends to kill your MPG for whatever reason...
