pizza hut is not a bad gig. My buddy's parents worked at p hut when we were in high school. His ma was the manager and his dad was delivery/waiter. They were able to easily support their family of 5 kids. They did surprisingly wel for themselves. Kind of goes to show that it's not always the type of job you have, it's what you can make of it. And in todays market, if you have a job you are blessed.

peoples-thats a high stress job but with great reward. I went to school with a few people who work in corrections and they all say that they get very streesed out on the job but they wouldn't trade it for anything.
REVIVED for the NEW NEWBS

I'm VP of Operations (official title) or more like babysitter (actual job) to a bunch of primadonnas at a 50 unit family owned tour bus company in the suburbs on NYC. Corporate outings, casino trips, bachelor/bachelorette parties and anything else someone may need a 55 passengers motorcoach for. I'm also licensed Commercial B with passenger and air brake endorsements incase I get suckered into driving a bus myself. Also a NYS Notary Public.
I am currently a Electrical Engineering student at OSU
I work two jobs since it's summer break. The first one I am Quality Assurance/Control for a small software company in Columbus. I help find bugs, do beta testing, and help push out and control what is used as production software.
my second job is I install 4/6 conductor and data cable into Kroger stores for upgraded Compressor/Refrigeration/Light/climate and other misc environment controls. I save them a bunch of money and kinda have the title of rafter monkey becauase I do all the dangerous climbing to make the wiring nice... its fun, dangerous, and dirty... but pays well :P I also get to work in compressor rooms that look like something from a horror movie... I dont even know if I could really take pictures in there, its very dark...dark.. loud... and dark.....
Sorry Metrompg took a while to get back to the answer. I will say that my data might be outdated since I can't find any flight deck job on any list. So I will just day that I have one of the most dangerous professions in america :angel4: I will post a top ten in the open forum just for kicks 8)Quote:

 Thank you for that add on and you just hit it on the nail. You will always hear "get out of the port catwalk" calls forever.
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. Just looking at the topics, and I wanted to reply to this one. I'm actually an elementary school teacher (3rd grade) and I live in Aruba. And I really love my job
I work as a driving instructor for a school of driving.

My every day job though is to build and secure flatbed loads of freight out of our Fairbanks, Alaska terminal. It's a very challenging, demanding and rewarding job. I enjoy it most days. I don't have very much time to work on my cars.
OSHA is pretty boring... We're taking OSHA 30 right now for the Welding Training Program I'm in... I like the actual welding though. That's the reason I haven't been posting lately.Quote:

Tons of work for welders and pipe-fitters up here in good ol' Alaska. I've been working pretty hard with this company called ENI lately. They're an Italian based oil company that we're teaming up with to hit first oil in 2010.Quote:

I know, the training program I'm in just sent one guy there from previous class. He's got a lot of family there. It's very hard to get into pipe-fitting/welding up in alaska though, since, from what they said, you pretty much have to be born into it to work there... You never know though. The money is good up there.Quote:

Not true, we have a lot of guys that are in that field of work that work up in Prudhoe Bay and actually live in the states. Several of them live in Texas, Washington, South Dakota and Montana. Whichever outfit they work for pays to fly them up to Prudhoe Bay on the north slope, you work 5 days a week, 12hrs a day, with the option to work weekends for overtime. They do that for 2 weeks, then they fly them home for 2 weeks and then come back. It's nice if you're single. I considered it myself for a while, but with my girlfriend and I thinking of getting married and starting a family it might prove to be difficult being away from home so much.Quote:

I am an ASE/Toyota certified technician, working at Jerry Durant Toyota in Granbury Tx, 30 minutes south west of Fort Worth (and about 35 40 minutes from Mansfield). people at work tease me a little and call my aveo "hotrod", its lowered with big rims, custom paint and big stereo
Pics of your aveo? I get made fun of Alll the time
Too cAuse my car. Eveyone else thinks it's cool but i roll with hondas boosted integras, slammed civics, n Honda hatchbacks si, type-r....etc.. U catch my drift...
I have learned that admin assistants (secretaries), security guards, and janitors are people too and should be treated with the up most respect. Also once you become friends with them, you also learn all the best gossip in the company. So even if you sit on your ass all day long, I thank you. When you are needed to do the right thing, you will do the right thing! :-D
Right now I have a gig in SC writing Firmware for Electrical Metering Products. I love my job and I get to do really cool things. I have worked for several failed attempts at GreenTech and I hope this thing works for me. My past job history is all over the place. I worked for 6 years in the control industry as a tech. That means I can run conduit, wire and work from your regular home AC to Campus Wide System. I am not refrigeration mechanic but damn close.
While I was working at IBM (I don't have good things to say about them) I was working part time at Lowes HW to make ends meet. I got to drive all the heavy lifting equipment. Driving a forklift is fun and dangerous as hell!
I have owned a three small cars: two beetles and the aveo. I have worked on my beetles as my Granddad owned a VW repair shop. So learned from the BEST! Thanks PawPaw! I also owned a truck and replaced the engine myself when it blew.
I usually work on my own cars out of necessity as the mechanic charges are too much and I can do the work myself. I had a new engine put into my truck (I hated the junk yard engine) and got a professional shop to do it. I really regretted it. I wanted to spend 3.5K to replace the engine and end up spending 6K and very unhappy with the work.
I want to upgrade my aveo as it's fun and I really want to promote small cars and matching the car for the mission. I live in the South where everybody's one-person SUV is in my way.
