It was until 06. (For the Sedan, thanks for informing me the hatch ran different years)

Dude, I have an '08 hatch.
The hatches' generations have different years than the sedans cuz the sedan didn't come out until later.
But I digress...

If you wanna get really technical, there were 2 different versions of the 1st gen hatch! In fact, my profile picture shows both side-by-side (plus some mods to mine) ;)
1st 1st gen (2004-2006) (Notice yellow side indicators, wimpy spoiler, and more spokes on rims):

2nd 1st gen (2007-2008) (Clear side indicators, bigger spoiler, less spokes):

2nd gen (2009-2011):

3rd gen (2012-present):
