i always work outside.
i have a 2 post lift in the garage so it would be quite easy to get it up and work on it to get it done quick
Even without the lift, you can get the rear shocks installed in about 20 minutes. The fronts... well 30ish? When I put my springs in, the whole process only took 45 minutes. Compared to a Subaru which takes about 2 hours, that's not so bad at all.
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
or do it in style in the garage...
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
i dont really know how to do it myself, i dont know how to use a spring compressor either...
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
you dont need a spring compressor for lowering springs..

but you do need to, to get the stock springs off and i dont have lowering springs yet, if anything i will be putting on cut springs
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
just undo the top bolt with the strut standing up in the grass. it will jump, but not enough to hurt anything.
dont hold the spring or the strut, just the impact. ( i do it all the time)
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
i dont have any grass, would blacktop hurt too much?
just un do the top nut and let the bottom just jump?
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
i would do it in grass. or a bucket of sand.
not saying it will jump harder on cement, but i don't want you hurting those mount point on your old struts ;)
Re: Where to order GM CarParts online and KYB?
with a cut spring, it shouldn't be so bad. do you have one coil cut or 2? I'm not sure I would want to do it without a spring compressor though... maybe do the rears and do the fronts later.
