      Windsheild mysteriously cracked..

All the sudden today I have a long crack coming from the bottom of my windsheild. to mid way up at an angle.

I'm pissed, I cant afford this. Anyone know about a TSB on windsheilds cracking? I don't think I have glass coverage any more.

Anyone ever replaced a windsheild on one of these? Ive done it myself on an older car.

And OH yeah.... will a 4 door sedan and 5 door hatch windsheild interchange?

      Hello DailyDriverMark,

I'm sorry to hear about your windshield. If you private message me the 8-digits of your VIN, I would be glad to check your warranty coverages and to check to see if there are any recalls or special coverages related to your windshield issue.

I look forward to your reply.

I'd call up your insurance company to see if they cover cracked windshields. You don't HAVE to fix it, but it would be a good idea.

I cancelled all my extra $$ coverages last year, when I was struggling to make the last remaining payments.

I bought a glass repair kit for $10 to try to help live with it for a little while.

I've found a few used windsheilds around town, and I've been researching installation process's. Looks like I'd rather just let a shop do it right, but thats $230 away at most shops.

look around for a place that will install used glass. i know that windshield replacement prices are very regional. but that are a few local places to me that will do used glass for like $100. (used but not cracked or chipped).

Got it installed today. Looks good. Installer did a good job.. I was lied to, that they used a factory GM piece of glass... this one is from Pilkington. Which from what I understand is a cheaper re-pop of the original. Otherwise, looks good to go.
