Woops! 2011 Aveo has no place for front tag...

Well, it's a beautiful sunny day here in southern Ohio...what could possibly go wrong?

I'll tell you what can go wrong...there is no place on the 2011 Aveo for the required front tag in the state of Ohio...yes, should not have missed this...but I did...it's history now.

Do any of you folks have an idea how to do this without extreme modification? I should point out that there is very little room to work with as most of the front is the light grill material for air flow.

Will add pic later, but would love to hear from 2011 owners in 2-tag states. Thank you.

If its required, your gonna just have to drill 2 holes and screw it in. Or you can try just putting it on your dashboard, but wrap the edges with a soft tape so you dont scratch the crap out of your dash. Or if your clever enuf you can mount it behind the grill/mesh on front bumper if there is a mesh. I dont know exactly how to do that cleanly.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

you are supposed to cover the lower grill, if you are worried about it covering the vent, take a look, the top half of the lower grill is not open, so you can make it as high as possible, and then you wont cover all that much. the bottom of the bumper is open, so you will still get air flow.

you can make a bracket for the plate to cover one of the side vents unless you have fogs.. take out the black plastic, and attach it to the rebar, and put the plastic back in.

or put it in front of the bow tie..

i could come up with more..

Here in WA, we are going to loose those plates. They will be replaced by an electronic tag. No date yet, but this year we lost the windscreen sticker.

Don't know why this didn't post earlier...will figure it out.

As it just so happens, if you live in Ohio, please, please immediately call your rep and support House Bill 107, the "1 tag" bill...it is in committee now, but will be put before the house for a full vote in about a month.

Until then, I'll use creativity with slight (very slight) modification...and thanks for the good replies!

Security cameras can have a better chance of identifying a vehicle.... thats one reason
Illinois tollway uses both plates for verification if somebody skips out on a toll... another reason

theres a few reasons, thats all I can think of at the moment.

Makes sense, they had an article about people covering up their plates as they went through a toll both, covering two would be harder (someone hung over a back of a truck and covered the plate with his hand....) I hope they do not charge for both tags every year or two!

gives a nice reflective surface on the front of the car for speed traps. radar, laser, ever visually at night.

the only other reason for them is the donut squad doesnt need to walk around the car again if they forget the license number

I feel like I'm a little late on this one, I hope I'm not too late: forget messing with your bumper... Lots of people where I live (in Ohio) just take their license plate and throw it inside their car on their dash so that it can be seen by cops. Another way to get around this is to just keep a mounting bracket in your vehicle with you at all times, if you do happen to get stopped just tell the officer that you were in a fender bender and are waiting to get it put back on.
