09 Aveo5 Build
So I'm thinking of working on my 09Aveo5.
Alot of my firends and ppl at meets make fun of my car and I want to suprise them by building it.
I don't care hou much $ or time it takes as long as I can show them I can do it.
My plans are...
1. Get it to a 2.0L
2. Single turbo
3. 200hp for now and room to get more
To do this I want to work on the moter that is in my car wich is a LXV(if I'm correct....)
Befor I get a motor and boring and stroking I want to know how thick the wall are so I can find out if I can bore it or not.
-
buy a 1.8 long block out of a cruze or astra, and its the "same" engine already bored out. $600 for a ready to install longblock is cheaper than the machine shop cost i have into my other engine.
then buy a vxr (or similar) turbo, ecu, injector down pipe and maf. And its almost plug an play turbo.
-
WOW..... I didn't know that. Thanks
-
Do you know if it will bolt in?
I'm looking to do a sub frame in and out so while I'm working on the motor I still have a car.
-
the long block is the same, so if you get a spare aveo subframe and put it on that..
the subframe part of the job is the easy part, i have had complete engines out and back in and running in 10 hours.. consider putting your money in better places.
-
Yeah I think I'm going to get a cruze motor and putting it on a aveo subframe.
I want to up the boost so I'm looking in to forged internals so I don't need to worry about my pistons and cranc shaft.
It seems like I have to "custom" maked cuz I don't see any for the motor.
If you seen any that they have in stock so I won't get over priced cuz it custom.

The new aveo/sonic/cruse just came out, I would give it a year or two and there will be parts for the turbo engine, either from GM or other companies. Engines and trannys will start popping up when they get totaled as well, just give it some time, save your money and go for it when the time is right.

I guess I have to wait then..... :(

VXR 1.6t parts will all "fit" you would obviously not be able to use the 1.6 pistons etc. because you want a 1.8.
but the turbo, the manifold, down pipe, injectors, etc should all fit fine. Even the ECU should plug in with the tuning aspect of the turbo as a place to start. Plus this is an availability of used parts for a decent price on ebay.
