Anyone ever hear of a tensioner crashing into power steering pump? My 2004 Aveo was squeeking bad upon starting. I opened the hood and saw metal dust shavings flying all over! Took off wheel and splash guard and removed the serpentine belt. The tensioner was cocked at an angle and pushed up into the powersteering pump's pully seizing the power steering pump. It is mashed into the pully! The bolts are all tight. How could this possibly happen? I decided to bite the bullet and gave it to my mechanic since the tensioner was too hard to get to. Anyone ever heard of this? I know of all the timing belt and valve issues with the Aveo but never heard of this one! Comments anyone?
