2005 pontiac wave engine swap

Hey i have a 2005 Pontiac wave i was driving one day and the serp belt snapped and a peace of it got into the timing belt and made it skip gears i set it back to timing but i screwed up the head anyway I'm looking for a new or maybe used engine but id rather not drop another 1.6L in it if anyone knows of another engine and where i can get it from preferably in Canada id really appreciate it thanks.

You can swap in the 2.0 (it was 2.0 right?) from a Chevrolet Optra, that has been done before. Not sure what that involves though you would have to check. Depending on where you are in Ontario I could recommend a few yards to talk to as well.

There are a number of different engines that you can drop in. I think the largest being a 2.2L. Its been a while, but we talked about it in my repair thread here:
