There are a bunch of threads about trans removal/reinstallation.
Specifically, post #9 in this thread:
http://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f82/c...31/#post178081
There are other tips in:
Thread: Transmission removal and replace, '05 LS 5 spd man.
Or:
Thread: Removing Manual Trans /Axle question
Thank you so much Metro I just dont want to do the wrong thing and cost me more time and money
I've only done one transaxle removal/replacement (not Aveo). It was a royal pain in the butt (especially getting it back on the engine, if you leave the engine in the car).
From what I read in those other threads, the Aveo is no different.
Good luck.
Confused. Gearbox = transaxle. Transaxle = transmission of a front wheel drive car. People use those terms interchangably.
You want to remove the transmission?
Yes, the clutch lever broke off at the top of the trans. so I was going to replace the whole works in the bell housing. the gear selector is so close to the trans axle that it looks like its going into it. if not then just just unbolt the gear box and lift it off? is it that simple? as soon as i get the gear box off im home free, Im sorry it just looks more is going on there than I think.
and sure enough why didnt anyone mention the other linkage coming up out of the trans axle and how dose that come off any advice would be helpful
