What, EXACTLY are the changes to the Aveo engine from 2008 to 2009.
I know they call it an Ecotec now, but what is physically different from the E-tec?
ALSO, does the "new" engine still have the ****ty timing belt, or does it have a chain now?
FWIW, I asked the head tech at the dealer and he said they all have chains and you don't have to worry about the engine blowing if the belt breaks. I want to get my facts straight before I tear him a new one.
its a completely different engine, different head, different manifolds. has a coilpack on the plugs, no wires.variable vale timing, it has a timing belt, but its not as bad as you make it sound.
the short block might be similar, but i haven't tore into it that far.
