I got a relative with this 2009 Aveo LT hatchback with Auto trans.

For the last two weeks it was losing power at random. Then it would take off like a rocket.
Today it ran funny on startup then it totally died before they left the drive way.

Replaced spark plugs.

Reset the computer.

All it does it crank over and fires a few cylinders then dies. If I hold down the gas pedal I can crank it forever. No more than 20 seconds in between.

If I try starting it without touching the gas pedal it will only engage the starter for 2 seconds then quit activating the starter. I do not see any security light and it reminds me of a GM anti theft acting up.

No check engine light or codes are set.
