2009 Aveo Recall repair work

I have a 2009 Aveo GL with 105k miles on her. Within the last month, the car started running rough, the HOLD light and the engine light were flashing. We pulled off the coil and saw that #3 plug wasn't firing. We replaced the plugs but it didn't resolve the problem. I then found the recall pertaining to this issue. I took the car to a local Chevy dealer and the plugs and boots were replaced. It DID NOT solve the problem. I had ordered a coil before I discovered the recall I installed the it. All of the issues went away. Runs great! Gas mileage is back and no flashing lights.

Just joined, wife has a 2008 Aveo she bought new. Going through this site I noted several references to a recall dealing with degraded connections between the spark plug boots and spark plugs. But when I search for recalls there were none listed for 2008/2009. Anyone familiar with this recall; looks like most owners were discussing this in 5/2012. Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

That recall only applied to the 09+ engine. In 09, the engine was changed to the Ecotech engine which has a coil-on-plug design (no spark plug wires). The 08 uses the older "E-Tech II" engine that does still have spark plug wires.
