Hey all,
I've replaced a bunch of timing belts on the 1st generation Aveos (usually already blown up requiring valves etc) but I recently acquired a 2009 Aveo with the Ecotec engine which is a new beast to me. Water pump not driven by the timing belt! Variable valve timing! What is this?!
The car only has 77k miles, but with the track record of the old belts, I would like to get this one replaced for peace of mind even though I read they don't break early on these engines. Does anyone have a guide and list of tools required for this project? I've done plenty of timing belt jobs on VWs and Auidis that require special tools such as locking the cam and crank so this isn't foreign to me, but I can't seem to find any sort of definitive guide.
Thanks!
Dan
