just need a little advise
do you think it would be cheaper to have the gearbox repaired or try and find one and replace it
thanks kevin

Late reply, sorry - did you make a decision on this?
Was 5th completely missing, or would it pop out?
I once bought an old VW Golf that the previous owner said wouldn't stay in 5th gear. I turned out it was just low on gear oil, which would cause it to heat up & pop out of gear. (Though it would run in 4th OK). Luckily no permanent damage -- topping up the oil fixed the problem completely.
sorry for the late reply,to be honest ive not had time to look at the gearbox as of yet,
just replaced the top strut joints and the drop link and fitted new pads, just had 2 new tyres fitted
the shiftier will go into where 5th should be but when you lifted the clutch its just like your in neutral
if you drop the trans, replace it. dont want to have to have it removed twice.
I would have to think a junkyard gearbox would be less expensive than having repair work done on a broken one.
