      Alluminum foil?

I know this is probably a pretty lame way of dealing with things... but would it help much if I used some "heavy duty alluminum foil" that you buy at grocery stores and wrap my air intake system to drop the temperature?

Mods I've done so far are... dun dun dun... stp air filter, and NGK iridium IX spark plugs (I'm poor)

I'm trying to see what free mods I can do to boost fuel efficiency, because of the said poverty

it would be completely useless. Plastic is already terrible at conducting heat.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.

it is alright, if you had a little money to spare, a cold air intake would be what you want ($50 or so)

a free mod would be to pull the muffler out of the fender well. Aluminum foil wont do anything. If you had a cai already, for the price of foil you could buy a can of high heat paint but it doesnt stick to the rubber.

this is what your complete intake looks like:

you take the bottom half out, its the most restrictive of the entire system.

Whats it even do? just make the intake quiet?
How significant of a performance change are we talking here, and with the crappy stock exhaust, will it even help much?

Do you replace that box with a pipe or something?

if you just take the box out it will draw the air from the fender well still you dont need to add anything.
it will improve flow, be a little louder, as a free mod it is worth it. I'm not one to say or guess "it will give you __ hp" but compared to stock, it should be noticeable. Its the narrowest point and most restriction on the stock unit.
