@ thehunterooo:
yeah, the Chevy mechanic has informed that this has been an issue with a number of Aveo users... had a sensor thoroughly cleaned; they used a spray can, which I think was made for cleaning brakes
@ petrified.rabbit:
not sure precisely what the "fuel rating" is but a number of gas stations I believe offer premium unleaded with techron usually at 95 octane rating, if that's what you mean... the car's 16v DOHC E-TECH II, multi-point injection, mileage is roughly 29500, compression ratio is 9.5:1...
Sure hope the problem won't return...
btw, the stalling happened especially if I immediately turn on the AC after starting the engine...

with the numbers you have, it sounds like you have RON gas, look at the pump next time you fill up it should be on there.
Ron numbers ARE a little different than (R+M)/2, 87 octane in US method = (if i am guessing correctly) 91 RON, where as your 87 RON is closer to 84-85 octane in the US, then that could be too low..
But the car should be able to adjust timing and be calculated in the ECU for a rating in your country anyhow. whay does ti recommend on the fuel door?
cheerz for the info! but for some reason, I can't seem to find the recommended fuel rating on the fuel door or anywhere else in the car...
Not going to do ANYTHING on a 103 HP un controlled cam timing car by running premium gas

93 octane is all I will run in my Aveo, anything less, and mileage and performance (overall, not racing) go down hill. Last year I had an issue where my Aveo would stall (it is manual) in neutral when coming to a stop or turning right. I removed the throttle body and cleaned the buildup and I havent had any further problems with stalling.
@ paulsaveo:
I believe your experience last year sounds very much like mine... throttle body had to be cleaned as well...
I run premium 93 oct only because I think the crooks at the gas station cut it down with something else anyway. 87 octane is probably 84 in all reality. I just cant prove it. However I did save allot of money by staying at a "Holiday Inn Express" last night.
Lighten up! We have a "Board Of Health" too but that still doesnt assure food safety or quality either. Do you really believe what the Trade Commision or what the President tells you??? Those are just Safety Stops. Thats it! As far as running premium is concerned, an Engineer on another site said that premium is good for driving up in the mountains where the air is thinner and if your running an agressive injector cleaner through the engine to clean it that it will help allot. Thats it. Its back to runing 87 oct for me and jerking the injectors every 20 to 30,000 miles for an ultrasonic cleaning. PS My Speedway Rewards card pays for most of my personal gas anyway because I re-fuel all the work trucks at 200 gals a week. Case closed.
