Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
Are you using an aveo clutch or a 2.0 clutch?
Why not just drill out that 3rd CAT hole, then the rest of the exhaust should fit without issue.
Keeping A/C? Pictures and a write up with a list of everything needed to do the swap would be awesome. If you wouldn't mind, I would love to put the writeup on my website under the tech articles at www.uniquemotorsports.com. The site has been up since 1999 or so and probably will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
Used the 1.6 clutch no problems, u need the 2.0 flywheel tho, yes im keeping a/c
I thought about cutting the 3rd bolt and just drilling a 3rd hole thru the cat's flange and pass a bolt thru that, which is what ill probly do
As for pics, like i said the last time i went to the shop i forgot the camera, the engine is in, its on standby now cause im waiting on a few original 2.0 parts, wiring isnt done yet. I might go take a look tomorow if i have time, ill try to snap a few pics of the engine bay.
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
how much are you in for at this point? $$$
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
Right now ive forked 900 buks (CAD) Its hard to get an estimate at this point, still need to exchange parts and stuff wont know the real cost after its done and i pay the shop's labour.
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
ready for a road test yet? were all rooting for positive results..keep us posted!
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
Not even close, no progress has been made since last time, im layed off from work since Dec 1st (construction suks at this time of year), no money coming in and i have way more pressing matters then fixing the car at this point since my budget is highly limited.
Its probly gonna go after the holidays hopefully, ohh and dont worry im more anxious then any of you to try this out, just need time and work to start again.
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Engine is in, final touches remain!
Just a heads up, this is far from dead, i finally got a steady job now, after i get back on track with bills and crap its time to start working on the car again.
Hopefully by the begining of March there should be some progress done, or close to beeing complete.
Stay tuned.
Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Finally some progress!
Alright, finally i got some progress going (about %#*&@^ time!) All the parts i need are gonna be ordered on Friday, everything should be in within a week and work should start on the 1st week of March.
The big chunk of the work is done, whats left is the starter, all the serpentine belt accesories (which i had to buy cause i had none, cept the a/c and alternator) also had to get the brackets and hardware required for those.
If you get an engine with ALL the accessories on, you wont have a problem, the only thing that you need to modify is the throttle body cable, the end that hooks up to the aveo's throtle body doesnt go into the 2.0's throttle body, simply grinding it a little fixes that, or making the hole a little bigger and the 1.6 cat will not bolt to the 2.0's manifold (havent tried a 2.0 cat) if they cant find an ez solution ill just go catless for a while until i rebuild the exhaust sometime this summer, or if i plan to turbo it ill have to do it anyways so yeah.
Stay tuned!
