Re: Aveo 2.0L - [17/04/09] Engine damaged, getting new one!
At least there taking care of you. The dead hole was pressurizing the crank case, that's why you saw oil vapor coming from everywhere. Make sure they check the new one out.
FYI, if coolant gets into the oil it will turn the oil into a milk shake. Coolant in the oil will kill the crank and rod bearings in no time.
Re: Aveo 2.0L - [17/04/09] Engine damaged, getting new one!
The new engine came in the shop today, they said they will book me a spot next week sometime, theyre pretty busy atm.
The place where i bought the 1st 2.0 said they dont want the old engine back, so ill be stuck with an extra 2.0 (plus the 1.6 i still have). Maybe ill fix it up sometime by myself or something i dont know.
Anyways next week new engine, hope that one is good lol

Re: Aveo 2.0L - [21/04/09] New engine in, install next week!
put both blocks side by side, and take pictures...
so we can compare the block differences.
then unbolt the heads and see if the 1.6 head bolts onto the 2.0 block.. etc..
help us do this swap in the future..

Haha i guess its really something to pass the time when your bored.
I doubt the head are interchangeable tho, i mean the damn starter is different for crying out loud, i dont think the head would work lol
Doesnt cost anything to try tho, might play with it with my friend this summer at his place. I could also keep it for parts and get rid of the 1.6, who knows
Re: Aveo 2.0L - [21/04/09] New engine in, install next week!
2.0 block is different from 1.6 liter block.
1.6 liter block max bore is 82.0mm ( I bored it to 81.0mm from 77.9mm, mine is a 1.4 liter, exactly same block as 1.6 except 1.6 is a bigger bore.)
2.0 liter block already came with 86.0mm bore in stock condition.
The heads will not bolt up. Different size. Look at the gasket and you will know.

i wonder if a 2.0 could be bored out to a 2.2L or a 2.4L, that would help with TQ, and nice low comp pistons and your ready to boost
Re: Aveo 2.0L - [21/04/09] New engine in, install next week!
Shop was real busy this week so they dont have time to swap the motor, im scheduled for next Monday morning (May 4th)
I had a look at the new 2.0, it look in better shape then the 1 in the car right now and it seems to have less mileage. They didnt send any info on the motor whatsoever, all there is with it is a skicker with misc info on it, ill take it home next week and give the place a call to see if i can get any info on the motor (year, mileage etc)
On a sidenote, you should see the crazy amount of ppl asking me wtf i did with my exhaust to make it sound like a Subaru, u should see their faces when i tell them the story and how its running on 3 cylinders which makes it sound that way LOL
Anyways, im anxious for next week so stay tuned, ill post more pics when i get it back.
Re: Aveo 2.0L - Up and running once again!
Finally running again with a fresh engine, this one sounds totaly different then the other one, the exhaust note is different, its way more "smoother" you can tell the other engine had a problem from day 1.
I got a small oil leak im gonna get looked at by the end of the week, doesnt seem to be coming from the motor tho.
