Re: Aveo 2.0L ... Finally some progress! [Updated 26/02/08]

Its in final stages, i had to get a 2.0 alternator, absolutely no 1.6 accesories fit, including the a/c. So im not gonna connect the a/c for now ill get a 2.0 compressor later. Right now i have all the parts needed to start the car, the 2.0 is beeing rewired, most of it is done, the power steering, fuel system are hooked up, right now theyre trying to wire the starter, then connect the exhaust, put the belt on, the battery and try to start it for the 1st time. They were pretty busy this week so they didnt work much on it. One thing i noticed is how much bigger the 2.0 exhaust manifold is compared to the 1.6.. its crazy.. I cant wait to see how faster this is gonna be. If everything works alright, with the mods i have, im hoping for around 130-135 crank horses from the engine using the 1.6's ecu and 91 octane fuel. From what ive heard the 1.6's fuel maps will make the 2.0 run a little lean, which should produce a little more power using 91 octane, well see tho.

By mid next week it should be very very close to beeing done, if not completed.

      ITS DONE!

Went to the shop today, the car runs perfectly after many many hours of work on it. Theres alot of stuff to cover on this that ill run over somethime, ill make a list what what i used/needed etc etc.

I still dont have it, they dont wanna give it to me until the labour is paid off, which might take over a month LOL yep, 36 hours of labour at 50 buks an hour, $2100 worth of labour for *^#%*@ sakes, i almost wanna crap my pants but hey its done, its done right, and it works.

Theres still a few things ill do on my own, putting back my grounding kit and a good wash.

Pics?? Gotta wait till i get it LOL, you guys will just have to share the anxiety with me mwhahaha, btw it sounds NASTY with that straight pipe exhaust i have

36 hours of labor at $50 an hour works out to $1800. You might want to talk to them about that...

+ tax = 2052$, thats not counting the oil, coolant and the flywheel they had to get which is another bill of 198$

My total cost for this is close to 4000 dollars, you better be prepared if you ever take on such a project, theres alot more work thats needs to be done then just dropping the engine in.

that includes the engine and everything? that is not terribly bad, since you paid someone to do it. Another year or two when my car is over 50k and my warranty is up, i think i am going to do a turbo cobalt ss swap into mine. Especially since vw just recanted on bringing the polo here, saying the american market doesnt want a car like that, now they car going to be building a "high roof" subcompact crossover thing instead. probably looks like the weird thing they sell in brazil. So i think i am hanging onto the aveo even longer now, and just put a new engine in once i start to get bored with it..
