Well just took 1st test drive and all i gotta say is... DAAAAAAMN! The difference in power between the 2 engines is crazy, the damn thing starts spinning the tires in 2nd gear when i punch it (ok its raining but still) the 1.6 would have NEVER been able to do that. I can feel 3rd gear push me back in my seat alot more then with the 1.6.

Its hard to tell how much hp is in there now but im pretty sure its between 135 and 140 crank hp. After the finishing touches are done ill have a better estimate.

Only Aveo owners can get excited over 140 chp. Wow we suck. I'm glad to hear you got it finished! I pray it stays together. Give us reports. Like at 100km, 500km, 1000km, etc

      Good news and bad news

Good news is the job is done the engine is running well, good power and all and PICS!!

Bad news is, i think something went wrong yesterday, something blew and the car started working on 2 or 3 cylinders, so i stopped on the side of the road, everything looked alright, start it up again and it works fine now... hmmmm Now though, theres steam coming out of the little breather filter mixed with oil, and when you open the oil cap after shutting it off, steam comes out, its like coolant is mixing up with oil, its even coming out the dipstick. Car is going back to the shop monday morning, theyre gonna chek the gaskets and compression. Something is wrong with the compression cause it runs and sounds like a subaru. If the engine is bad, its on warranty for 1 year on parts and labour, so they will just swap in a new one at no charge for me. All the work is done now so swapping a new block is a matter of hours.

In the meantime, dig the new rubber!!

Re: Aveo 2.0L - Good/Bad News and PICS are up!!!

If you've got coolant in your oil you more than likely blew a head gasket. Question is, did it blow in or out? Are you leaking any of the coolant/oil concoction on the ground under your car or see your manifold steaming when you pop the hood?

Nothing is leaking outside, the only fuild that's coming out is the steam/oil mix from the breather filter, the car is also not burning any oil or coolant, the exhaust smells normal

Re: Aveo 2.0L - Good/Bad News and PICS are up!!!

Im leaning towards the blown head gasket idea, theres def coolant in the oil i cheked this morning after work, the thing im not too sure about tho is the knocking noise it makes. Can a blown head gasket cause this "knocking" sound as well as making the car loose compression and making it sound like its running on 3 cylinders?
