You mean an aftermarket exhaust? No, not worth at all.
my plan was doing free flow exhaust from front to back, putting proper branches on,later getting nyc cam and skimming the head
No an aveo? No, still not worth it at all. If you can even find a decent set of cams or exhaust you'd get maybe 20 more hp. Not worth it to do performance mods on this engine.
Its just so much hassel getting a 2l motor that will fit without too much hassel or changes to be made
You have the wrong car if you have high performance in mind. Even swapping motors to something like a 2.0 turbo from a cobalt or sonic is a pain in the ass.
i heard a few stories for either 2l cruz motor or an opel 1.8,i know this isnt the right car but if you can get a car like this just to a decent amout of power that people can under estimate,i allready got i with the liik of my vehicle nobody can believe its an aveo, here in south africa you realy dont see any pipmed aveo's,so wana try and stand out
The aveo is just not a go fast car. Even if you did get some decent speed out of it, they are not built for it.

2008 Aveo5 SV
I will think of a better signature later.
I love the pessimism on this thread. No aveo will ever be fast n furious. However, if u are into modifying your car to better it and correct the factory faults - yes, your branches ( headers in South Africa ) and a free flow exhaust are a good start. Our engines can be modified to a good 150HP and be fun to drive. A full exhaust, cams and headwork would be a fun little street car or autocrosser. I believe too many people expect to get Honda like #s out of their aveos, it aint going to happen cuz the aftermarket doesn't support us much. And with all the emissions bull**** ( in the US ) altering the emissions system for power is a real pain in the ass. I say go for it and keep us posted to your progress...Good luck!!
