'The hunterooo' check out my poor fuel post, its long and goes into great detail. I have been to chevy since the week after i bought it, and they say it is because I only drive 2-3 miles a day, so it never gets to 'running temp.',the computer says the fuel/air mix is right, I dont drive like a rabbit on speed...when I do...I get 15-6mpg! I have to drive like a little old lady to get the 19mpg.
I only drive 3-4,000 a year, thus teh 20K mils in 5.5 years. But I bought this tiny car to get 30mpg in the city, and 40+ on the highway. If I ever go on it one day. I gave up my hot Yellow 'Edge Ranger' Truck with a huge 6 cyl. And it got 18mpg! To get a tiny econobox, thanks to George Bush and the $4 a gallon gas, in 2006...and then since $3+....so I lost my favorite truck, and got stuck with a car that gets worse mileage. If it were not paid off, my first paid off car ever in my life. I would go get a Kia Soul or Nissan Cube. At least they are unusual/cool looking, and have even more interior space and get the mileage they say they get!

I dont think the 04 to 09's have the fuel filter easily available like the '10's do. MY 06 doesnt have one there as shown in the write-up. If Im not mistaken, their either isnt one, or you have to remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank to get to it. I could be wrong there. But I do know the early models dont have the filter anywhere handy, that I've seen.

If you drive those little miles, you would not save that much money a year on gas if you got more MPG's. You probably spend more money on things to help the MPG's and gas to the dealership than what you would save on gas a year if you crunch the numbers. But if you want to buy another car to save a couple MPG's if any, then it makes no sense to me when it comes to the money, if you drove 20k miles a year, then it is a different story, but not by much. I think I already said this in the other thread anyways lol, if you do not like the car, get rid of it. But a 20k+ truck new will be better than a >10k Aveo, you get what you pay for.

Like I was told by my service adviser at Chevy, who is usually very upfront and honest with me, when I asked how much it would cost to replace the fuel filter in my 2006 Aveo, he told me it would be a huge undertaking and not worth it, for the little driving I do. He said it was someplace IN the engine,or someplace complicated like that. And it is nearly all labor costs to replace it, the filter is cheap. So I didnt pursue it. but Petrified Rabbit says it is right next to the gas tank and come right off. so...I dont know who to believe. So he said go get a good fuel injector cleaner, IF I was having somekind of problem and see if that fixed it. I just wanted to replace it as a preventive measure. But at $2-3 hundred dollars to replace, screw it! There is no problem and I am not going to make one. I use good fuel,I go to the same station for 5.5 years, no problem ...yet!

my problem is i have an 09, built to the 10 specs (other way around actually).. and cant look under my car to compare dirrectly to yours, however most (99%) of undercarriage parts are the same between all models.

      but:

Utahredrock: My trip to Patagonia, November 2010--Part one.

      look under your car?

I see that, it even lists the time to change it as only a half hour. Must be nice. Thats for 2008's... Hopefully it's just tucked up a little higher on these earlier models. (mines an '06 too).. I've checked the spot that is shows both in that drawing and in the pic here on the forum, and mine doesn't have one there. At 100k miles, I'm thinking it might be a good time for a fresh one.
With the OP's car having such low milage and short travel route, I'd say, yeah don't worry about a fuel filter just yet.

I checked www.rockauto.com. They do not list a fuel filter for the 2004 Aveo. Maybe the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump?

went over my 07 while it was on the lift definitely no fuel filter in site.has a evp canaster and vent soeinoid valve right behind tank in a plastic protective box but thats it.any filter has to be inside the tank with the fuel pressure sensor and sending unit.all lines go into tank and evap canaster.no inline filter near tank.
