I spoke with the dealer and they said the thermostat wouldbe covered by warranty however the two sensors would not.
If they diagnose one of the sensors as bad, I will immediately owe them a $100 diagnosis fee. If I let them fix it, they will charge mesomewhere around $50 for one sensor and around $30 for the other sensor. On topof that, they will charge me a $100 per hour fee to do the work.
If I knew how to test the sensors for proper operation andfound them to be good, I would not hesitate to take the car to the dealerbecause at that point I will know the issue to be the thermostat for which Iwould be covered by warranty.
If anyone can tell me how to accurately locate and test thesensors, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Welcome to the game of... *Dancing With The Dealers*

GM Customer service will invite you to the 'dance'. And then you won't know what to do. That's where you are at this stage.

If the car is our of warranty either a) complain to GM relentlessly if you are skilled at the game of effective complaint, until they satisfy you or, b) diagnose and fix it yourself or, c) take it to an honest, independent shop and pay for the repair. And then there is the sad choice of d) dancing with the dealer and hoping you will somehow come out ahead. Not recommended. You won't beat them at their game. Car dealers are masters at playing the public for suckers. They are playing you already.

BTW, from what you said, the only thing the dealer offered to do under warranty is to change the thermostat. That's a straightforward job that most DIY'ers can manage, so it sounds like they are really trying to play you. That's to be expected.

Read your warranty and question authority. Why is the thermostat covered, but not the sensors??? Pursue that question persistently and you might get GM to authorize the entire repair.
