Why the heck would you want a close ratio box?
www.v-tuning.com out of england? makes LSD and different size final drive gears for the F series transmission. THey have the f16 listed for installing a quaife but no price for the quaife on the site. If you get a shorter final drive, it will bring all the gears closer together.
And make the already unnecessarily high rpm 5th gear worse, its bad enough the car runs at 3k rpm at 65 mph, i couldnt stand it beeing at 4k or more with a close ratio box, id like my rpm to be 2k at 65mph.
im not sure mine is quite at 3000 when i am at 65, i will have to look tonight. i was thinking it was closer to 2600?
i drive it at 3500-3750 though in 5th gear, at 75-80 mph.. but its been a while since i have been on the highway. maybe my memory is bad. if not, anyone know if they change ratios/final drive on the 09's for the new engine?
it would be interesting but its pointless unless you are doing major modding like ill be doing, or Nemasys and his new engine :)
eh, when the time comes, i am doings a SS turbo drivetrain swap.. is that major modding?
nice, i didnt know lol
it seems that everyone is selling there aveos to buy imports :|
are you doing a swap similar to the one that was done in that one shop?
similar? if you mean complete yes, but it am going to make it appear factory.
ahh a super sleeper :P
ive looked very hard for information on the swap but the people who did it are jews and do not want to share their knowledge
it you do the full harness, full drive train, and modify what needs done to fit, it wont be that hard..
might need to do the cluster too, as well as the dash if its that involved in the wiring. security, but i am hoping not to.
making moving mounts is th easiest part, axles not too bad. spindles and brakes? maybe..
after 8k to 12k, it should turn out very nice
I would put a new dash in too, or modify it for new gauges like you said
it would be one hell of a car
you were right, 3000 at 65mph.. but i was right too, and 4000 rpm is 85-90..Quote:

as compared to most of the jap cars im gonna run against the gears are way too tall...im only talkin about the drag point of view..im running against the hnda city 1.3 sohc, the swift 1.3 sohc and the esteem 1.3 sohc...
drag racing :P
i shifted out of third at red line (just to see) and was going about 84 mph when i let the clutch out (i watch the road through the shift)
im not even talking of bolt ons...gimme some specs n dimensions and itll be sorted...

3.944 final drive ratio kit for sale.
Selling at $299US shipped to US by air.
This is for D16/D20/ F16 F20 gearbox. Other gear box from daewoo or opel may be compatible also.
I am using 4.176 final drive ratio.
Original is 3.944.
Accelaration is faster with bigger final drive ratio. All gears become closer.

my motive of a close ratio gearbox is for drags.
i want to work on the gear ratio before i go in for cams otherwise id just be wasting a lot of money.
out here in the drag scene we have classes where in my major competition is the swift 1.3 and the honda city vtec 1.3.
& nemasys with my current set up ive been smoking pretty much every modded sohc lancer out here..
.........................
well yes the drag scene isnt all that developed out here in india so we have a lot of classes like street stock , pro stock etc...
sure we have the shylines and supras a couple of verons too but they run the open unrestricted class.
i run in the 1100 to 1450 class where my competition are the 1.3 swift sohc and the 1.3 vtecs.lancers are just heavy underpowered pieces of metal here and dont really run.the sohc puts out about 85 bhp..lol!.
i was just complaining about the zombie thread, xaio had a gear kit to move the gears closer togther, not sure if the company exist anymore though, have not been able to get a hold of him :(
singapore is the only place for after market parts for the aveo right?
ive heard of RDY Performance out there.
for the most part, we always try to have stuff made in the us as well, but xaio has quite a list he can get his lucky hands on :D
is there a way we can chat?
maybe on Gtalk or blackberry?
cz i seriously have to get mh **** inline before the drags this year. :) :)
oh and also i might have forgotten to mention that my aveo is a 1.4 sedan etec 2.
xaio's is a 1.4 as well, should be the same car lol
facebook chat is about all i use nowadays :D
Howsit, is the d16/d20 the same as the f16/f20?
over here in SA we have alot more boxes available as opel is common here.
I had an opel with a F13 gearbox and the ratios where so short it worked well as a robot to robot race or on the drag strip.
we then have F13, F15, F16, F17, F18 and F20. the f16,18 & 20 come in different ratio boxes from short to long. there is also a F28 6speed and a f20 with a factory limited slip diff.
there are a few more that should fit provided the d16 is the same as the f16.
you are correct about hydraulic cluth but we have the F series boxes with the hydraulic clutches also but i think that is only in the F18 on the later model ople corsa's.
in SA we had a FWD F28 only on a SA only model opel called the kadett/astra 200tS with a 6 speed 2.0l 16v turbo engine producing 160kw in 1994 and 150kw in 1995.
ok so finally.. whats the easiest to fit and best gearbox i can get for the aveo 1.4 sedan etec 2.
well if you could find one of the boxes i mentioned then they are all a straight fit. majority of the different boxes have a short ratio, wide ratio and long ratio available.
hey sorry for the late reply but could you list a few names of cars that these gear boxes were present in..?
thanks! :)
