probably cheaper to trade your automatic for a manual of the same year.
But you would need the D16 transmission, flywheel...etc.

how much? I don't know. Call a few junkyards to find out.
+ ECU/TCM, harnesses etc etc etc.
IF you have access to cheap parts AND you're mechanically inclined and have access to a lift etc etc etc, it will be DEFINITELY and INFINITELY easier and cheaper just to trade in the auto for a manual.
People ask that all the time on the elantra boards I'm on. Only one guy has successfully pulled it off, and it was a PITA- I think it was down for several weeks. He bought a rear-ender write-off for dirt cheap to get the front-end parts, was a tech with tools/lift/time but still had a hell out of it.
I'm not saying you can't do it...
def. not worth trying to do. if you want a manual trans, trade it in.

When the easiest part of the swap is changing the transmission, you know it's not worth it :)

a swap on a car like the aveo is definantly not worth it. its like trying to hook up a pulsar with junkyard parts. you have no idea what kind of condition transmission is in. then you will need new axles.
im speaking from experience. i swapped a 95 taurus to the SHO MTX-IV. lasted a month. axles blew out, spent 120 for new ones, then the tranny blew on the test drive after those were replaced. definantly NOT worth the time, money, or the effort IMHO.
