      you only need the clockspring and switch. the "kit" if there is one, just comes with instructions for the tech in the same box.

      from researching the A/C kit, it does not typically save you any money versus ordering the parts individually.

      So now that I'm getting closer to the possibility of actually having to drive 75 miles one way to school and back for my welder training (God willing, I'll get picked up for that), the idea of having cruise control is much more appealing...

      One question that I have: can I just go to the junk yard and pull a random switch (as long as it's from a newer car and has two wires coming out of it) and mount that on my column the same way as my turn signal switch is? (I think that type of switch would look better than the one that's supposed to be built into the wheel zip-tied to one of the other switches)... Plus the junk yard price might be lower.

      All I'm wondering if that would work, of I need to be looking for something specific with the switch...

      (I think if either would work, second one is better 'cause all it needs is one screw to secure it somewhere by the steering wheel if i understand correctly)

      i would use a factory switch and mount it some other way.

      any suggestions on where to put it so it looks decent and is easy to reach?

      Thanks. I like it there too, it's pretty easy to reach and is out of the way.

      that would bug me to no end. I'm a perfectionist and would find a way to mount it properly on the steering wheel.
      - 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34 - LQ1 3.4L DOHC 24 valve semi-hemi V6, 210 HP, 215 ft-lbs of torque, 4T60e 4 speed automatic with O/D.... 123,000+ miles. Slowly resto-modding it.
      - looking for a first gen Aveo for a daily driver :D

      There is a way. You don't have to look for it. You can just buy a proper clock spring with cruise option from the dealer for $100+. I just didn't want to go that route. Plus I won't be using the cruise control light in the dash (which would come on with the proper clock spring) - I have the light channel removed for my custom gauges so it would actually shine all over it... I'm too much of a perfectionist to let it do that... And I am looking for a way to cover up the visible part of the switch.
