Cylinder one misfire, soaked spark plugs, loss of power

200k mile 07 well maintained Aveo

My wife had me drive her car and when I hit the gas hard there was a noticeable lag, jittering, loss of power, and engine light. The code came back something like 0301 whatever it was we googled it in the moment and found a cylinder one misfire. The spark plugs don't have the little nipple for good spark BUT they were SOAKED in oil even after changing the valve cover gasket 6 months ago.

      Please advise.

I have the same thing. Do a compression check -- you probably lost the rings or a valve guide on one cylinder.

Be very very careful. A sign of timing going out is misfire, loss of power. If it's the 1.6 it is a zero tolerance engine and will ruin the engine if timing belt breaks. I just paid 1800 to rebuild mine.

Could also be a bad spark plug, wires, or the coil pack.
