decat, engine swap and other info needed

Hello all.

My fathers 2006 aveo sedan with a 1.5l 8valve engine is going out of warranty in a few days and we are looking at ways to make it a bit more faster so i need some advice, tips and info.

I know the 8v aveo engine is almost identical to the 8v opel corsa engines we have so certain parts will be interchangeable.

the compression on the 1.5 is about 9.5:1 is this correct?
the d16 gearbox is the same as the f16 we have here but its cable clutch.

The 1st thing we want to do is remove the cat. If we do this will the ecu go into limp mode?

what is the model of the ecu that the aveo has?

now i have a c20xe (2.0l 16v) motor in my corsa and i have seen a few aveo's with this motor in them it is the non ecotec motor. has anyone here got some info on this conversion or is it easier to put a x20xe, x20xev, z18ze,x18xe, x18xe1 motor in the aveo?

please any info on the above would help.

i would need to look, but and engine can be swapped in as long as it bolts to the transmission you chose.

i believe you are still talking gm engine family 1 with all your choices, so they are fairly interchangeable amongst themselves..

we dont necessarily have all those engines to look at like you do, so narrowing it down an having us research one would be easier for opinions..
