DIY by pass coolant return hose to reservoir

Hi my aveo is leaking coolant near the coupling tube (metal tube part of the throttle body assembly) connecting the return line radiator from the thermostat to the reservoir. Upon checking the metal tubes are already corroded. Can I by-pass the return line by connecting both the return hoses? Is there a need to warm up the throttle body?

a lot of people actually bypassed the throttle body in the first gen. Here is the how to. The reason the coolant goes to the TB is to keep it from freezing in the winter.

If he lives in Florida, it probably won't matter. If he lives in an area that freezes in winter, it might.
